I am a huge fan of the Metal Gear Solid series so it was high time that I made a What If? cat of the games’ protagonist, Solid Snake. And it gets better. Solid Snake, or Solid Moggy, joins six other brand new What If? cats and five of my favourites to make an A4 poster which I’ll be selling tomorrow and Sunday at London’s MCM Expo. After that, the posters will be available to buy from my shop.

I only found out this morning that, apparently, today is World Goth Day so I thought I’d quickly knock up a What If? cat for probably the most famous goth in the world of movies. The cliché moodiness of this particular goth is somewhat cancelled out due to his cuteness but still, he’s a goth nonetheless!

Today is May the 4th which, of course, means it’s Star Wars day where all nerds, geeks and enthusiasts celebrate a beloved sci-fi classic by telling everyone “May the 4th be with you.” I’m certainly no exception and give to you Boba Katt, a cute but ruthless bounty hunter. Happy Star Wars day!

Skyrim may have come out a while ago now but since it’s such a huge game, I suspect it’s still being played. This week’s What If? cat is dedicated to the fantasy RPG and also involves myself and Tali in a game of who can look the most ridiculous. Unfortunately, I’m the winner…

Last week we had Mass Effect 3, this week comes Journey, a remarkable experience on the PS3 with a gorgeous art style and interesting character design. So I wondered, what if the traveler in Journey was a cat?..

While America may have been basking in the glory of Mass Effect 3 for a couple of days, it’s only officially just come out today in the UK and since I’ve not drawn any What If? cats lately, I thought today would be a good day to do just that. It’s been mentioned before but Tali is actually named after one of the main characters and was very nearly called Liara, another character, so you can tell how much I like the series!

What with today being Friday 13th and all I thought a good candidate for my What If? cats would be Jason Voorhees, star of dodgy horror B-movies. The difference with my version of Jason is that if I saw him coming towards me, I’d probably be overcome with cuteness rather than fear.

While at a recent comic convention, I was asked by the charming Timothy Winchester to draw my own interpretation of Angela Lansbury for his week dedicated to the TV star. So I did and as will all the celebs in Eat, Sleep, Sniff, I drew her, or rather the character Jessica Fletcher as if she was a cat. Tim suggested maybe calling the show Meow, She Wrote, which I whole heartily agree with! Check out the rest of the brilliant entries over at Tim’s blog.

The usual Friday slot of What If? cats is going to change slightly to involve things like fan art of things I find particularly interesting and become an area where I can answer your questions or reply to the comments I get.
Kicking this is off is some fan art I drew for the launch of Lizz Lunney’s new comic, Depressed Cat. It’s a fun collection of stories following a cat who’s, more often than not, a little down on his luck. Check it out!

Black and white cats can have some rather uncanny markings giving them the appearance of either a legendary silent movie comedian or maniacal dictator. Some of the more lucky ones however can look like a certain stealthy comic book hero and gave reason for me to draw this week’s What If? cat.

Today’s What If? cat is dedicated to a remarkable young boy, Harry Moseley, who through sheer selflessness, raised over £500,000 with Cancer Research by making and selling colourful bracelets. Harry was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour but it was for his friend and other sufferers of cancer that he raised so much money for. Sadly, Harry lost his fight last Sunday but his memory lives on as does his fundraising campaign.

With Nintendo celebrating the 25th birthday of The Legend of Zelda series, I thought who better to turn into a cat than Link, seen here chasing the helpful but often annoying guide, Navi.

I know my last few What If? cats have been somewhat video game heavy but since this week is a big week for gamers, I couldn’t say no to one more. Last Tuesday saw the release of Gears of War 3 so this week’s cat is based on the game’s lead, Marcus Phoenix. In GoW, Phoenix and his team do battle with an army of hulking beasts called Locust but in a cat’s world, the locust would be far more manageable.

Much like my Mario cat, I hope this week’s What If? cat will be just as appealing to non-gamers as it is to digital hobbyists. The character is Chell, a reluctant heroine of the fantastic Portal series. Stuck in a science lab, Chell uses portals as a means to escape but I think if Chell was a cat, this is exactly the kind of thing she’d do first…

By now I’m sure you’re aware of my fondness for cats in hats (is there anything cuter?!) so illustrating Professor Layton and his assistant Luke from the Nintendo DS series jumped to the top of my ‘to draw’ list after Nicky Hutchins suggested the duo on the Eat, Sleep, Sniff Facebook page. Thanks Nicky!
